Freda or Rita Hayworth?

This is Freda Glaubitz Baker.
Doesn't she reminds you of a movie star from the golden era?
Her father was Emanuel Glaubitz.
Freda did modeling for Litchenstiens in Corpus Christi.
She did this to get a discount on her clothes. Smart gal.
I would be happy to post more photos of the other branches/brother's family. Just send them via email or leave a comment with your email and we'll upload and post them.

Ship S.S. Darmstadt

This is a photo of the ship S.S. Darmstadt that Louise made her voyage to America on. It was built by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company in Glasgow, Scotland. It was built in 1890 and weighed 5,012 tons. It was 413 feet long and 48 feet wide.

It was a steam triple expansion engine with a single crew.
It could hold 1991 passengers -- 49 first class, 38 second class and 1904 in third class.
The ship was sold to Turkish owners in 1911 and renamed Kara Beniz. It was scrapped in 1923.
Photo: Arnold Kludas Collection.

Louise Klebe

Emanuel married Louise Pauline Christine Klebe May 4, 1893 in Willow Springs, Missouri.
Name: Louisa C. on her tombstone. In her funeral book it is written Louisa Carolyn.
Birth: January 1, 1867 in the province of Brandenburg, the city of Zuellichau, Germany. It is now Sulechow, Poland due to the merge of Prussia by the Nazis.
Faith: According to her funeral book, she was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Germany and was confirmed by Pastor Eddingburgh when she was fourteen.
Immigration: Arrived in America April 5, 1893 from Berlin on the ship, S.S. Darmstadt which departed from Bremen, Germany March 23, 1893. Port of departure was Baltimore. She was 26.
The Voyage: Her manifest line number was 0721. The ship had 73 adult passengers, 36 children passengers and 8 infant passengers. On the ship captain's document, it show Louise's destination to be the state of Ohio. She went to Willow Springs - Howell County - Missouri. We assume to meet Emanuel.
Citizenship: Her funeral book says she became a citizen. Is there documentation?
Family: We have several photos of her family dating up to 1935, but they spoke and wrote in Suetterlin; a German which was taught in the public schools between 1865 and 1917. Some family called it High German, but all of the photos we have from the Klebe's are definitely in Suetterlin, which is more difficult to read.
We are told she had an older sister who was married to Dr. Kaarl Shober, a surgeon in Germany. We have at least one post card to a Shober.
She also had a younger sister, Bertha who was born in 1878.
She had a brother Armin Klebe. The name, Armin is a very uncommon name. It is a variant of Herman and means "soldier."
Her parents were Carl or Karl and Pauline Klebe of Germany.
Death: Louisa died in her home September 4, 1954 at the age of 86.
She is buried at White Oak, where her funeral was held, though the church is no longer there.
Pallbearers were listed as Guy Rose, Eldred Glaubitz, George Glaubitz, Hansel Williams, Ed Glaubitz and Jess Willis.

August Descendants

Here I am (in the olive green shirt) with some of August's descendants from Minnesota about three years ago.

Joseph Glaubitz - The Patriarch

Joseph Glaubitz was the father of the four sons who immigrated to America. He was born about 1815 in Prussia, a culturally rich German state.

Marriage: According to "Mytrees.com" and and old thread of Charles Glaubitz had posted, Joseph Glaubitz married *Barbara Elizabeth Wandel [Wendel] in 1836 or 1840 in Hennersdorf, Duchy of Lauenburg, Prussia. Barbara Elizabeth's parents were Christian Wandel and Rosina Liebeneicher.

*NOTE: some sources name Carolyn Erman as Joseph's wife. He may have been married twice, so if you have any information, please let us know.

Children: We have no information on any daughters, but he had at least four sons. We believe they had five sons because MyTrees.com also shows a son named Joseph.
Four sons - Albert, August, Bruno and Emanuel immigrated to the United States at the turn of the 20th Century. The name, Glaubitz is misspelled in the first three entries in their Declaration of Intent for United States citizenship. This is explained 1) Many times the American taking the information was spelling phonetically. 2) the clerk was unfamiliar with the language of origin 3) handwriting was unclear many times.

Death: Joseph died about 1875 in Prussia at about the age of 60.

August

This is a photo of August Glaubitz in 1947. We believe it's in Minnesota in front of his home. Any information?

Most of his descendants are in Minnesota.

Emanuel H. Glaubitz

Emanuel H. Glaubitz (my grandfather), born 12/8/1862 in Prussia. His father, Joseph, was from the House of Hapsburg or Hamburg. His middle name was either Herman or Henry. He was about 47 at his birth.

Marriage: Emanuel married Louise Pauline Christine [Carolyn?] Klebe 5/4/1893 in Willow Springs, Missouri.
Since we have quite a bit of information for her and many photos, we will give her a blog title, Louise C. Klebe.

Agusta, aka Gusta (Glaubitz) Paulsen.

Freda Dell (Glaubitz) Baker, born 12/1/1908. Died 2/22/2005 in Texas.
Fritz - no middle name - the youngest surviving child born 7/13/1913. He married Bulah Yates and was divorced in 2/15/1938 the same day their one one daughter, Wanda Louise, died 2/15/1938 in infancy. The baby is buried at White Oak Cematary. Fritz married Mary Francis (Williams) about 1941. Fritz died at his home 10/28/1971. Mary died 2002 at the same home.

All Emanuel and Louisa's children were born in Rogersville, Missouri.
Two children, Richard (in Emanuel's Family Photo sitting on Emanuel's lap crying) and Pauline (not pictured), died in infancy.

Louisa died in her home 9/4/1954 at the age of 86.

Albert Photos

This is a postcard I have from Albert to Freda Baker (Glaubitz) Albert's neice who lived in Missouri at the time. It is from Starbuck, Minnesota where I believe he was visiting his brother, August.
